2010 indoor practice starts on Friday 08 Jan Friday 15 Jan

Our next Beginners' Courses will start in late spring 2010. If you want to go on the mailing list for details, please let us have your postal address.
Other clubs in the area may be running courses; see the GNAS website for links.

Stourbridge Company of Archers was formed in 1956. From a foundation of just four archers the club has increased in size to its present membership of around fifty.

The main discipline of the club is target archery, though some of its members also regularly participate in field, clout and roving marks. Most of the club's active membership is evenly split between recurve and compound archers; the rest normally shoot longbow.

Our home ground is at the Somers Sports and Social Club in Halesowen where outdoor practice, club and open shoots are held. Indoor shooting during the winter takes place at Perryfields Secondary School in Oldbury. Follow the How to find us link for further details of where and when we shoot.

During the year we host a number of Club and Open tournaments. Follow the What's on and Open Shoots links for further details.

Beginner’s courses are held each year over a 6-week period from late April (-ish) to mid-June. For a modest fee to cover the provision of equipment and insurance, you can have a detailed, safe and, we hope, enjoyable introduction to the sport of Archery. Follow the Getting Started link for more information.

Save our Somers (Sports & Social Club) Some of you may had heard rumours that our home is under threat... well it's true it looks like an agreement has been reached. But we're not back in the old comfort zone anymore - it's a ten-year lease on commercial terms and there's a big legal bill to pay. Read about it here...

January 2007 - News (literally!)

The local press took an interest in our FITA 25m Open Tournament on 7th January. This appeared in the following Monday's Express & Star and the weekly Chronicle: press cutting They took photos of the Tournaments Officer and the Worcester County Rep. Let's assume they tossed a coin to decide which one to print...
The T.O. would also like to state that the bow is not his and he has not gone over to "the dark side"!
